Excitement is building around Lake TaupÅ in the lead up to the 47th annual Lake TaupÅ Cycle Challenge taking place this weekend. Riders, enthusiasts and supporters will be gathering, ready for the big day this Saturday 29th November.
From humble beginnings over four decades ago (in 1977 and with only 26 participants!) the event has grown into New Zealand’s most iconic and one of the largest cycling events, drawing in over 3,000 competitors from across New Zealand and the globe.
This year an exciting new event, the Great Lake 100, has been added to the lineup. Designed for riders looking for that perfect middle ground ride - not as demanding as the Shimano Round the Lake, but longer than the Independent Traffic Control Length of the Lake. This epic 100km road event offers a manageable challenge along with some incredible views of the Great Lake.
